Dow Thailand has an exciting opportunity for a Technical Service & Development Specialist, located in Bangkok office. Under this position you will support customer needs by leading the development of new applications. You will provide technical knowledge on the use, handling, and management of Dow Building and Infrastructure products under silicones material. Use understanding of the customer to define projects that deliver technical solutions to customers and markets.

Responsibilities / Duties:

• Help to develop Building and Infrastructure business (B&I) (applications such as weather seal, structural glazing etc.) under Dow consumer solutions (DCS) by technical support and application development Silicone sealant and other building and construction related products based on silicone and other chemistries.
• Identifying new opportunities for unmet customer needs or new applications and converting growth opportunities to commercial success by working together with cross functional team members such as commercial, marketing, manufacturing and R&D.
• Possesses a thorough knowledge of assigned Dow products, available chemistries, performance properties and targeted applications, and uses the knowledge to drive technical discussions at customers on suitability of material to customer specific application. Advice customers such as material properties, how to apply material and troubleshooting. Work with R&D labs to generate data for existing materials or new product development and assess material properties for suitability on customer’s substrates.
• Oversee Dow’s project services including substrate testing, blueprint review, on site (job site and/or manufacturing facility), and deliver training and recommend products to customer & sealant bite/ joint calculations. Prepare warranty reports in COOL (construction online system), ultimately providing project warranties.
•  Deliver an excellent customer experience for existing and prospective customers with a customer-centric mindset and ensure consistent experience across different touchpoints with Dow. Convinces others about differentiated technical solutions. Understands how business value is created for Dow and the customer.
• Engage cross-functional stakeholders (commercial, technical) to drive innovation growth and provide insights on competitive technologies in market meetings.
• Delivers presentations with clear results and proposals to influence internal and external audiences.
•  Appropriately documents work in the form of internal reports/presentations, technology manuals, knowledge management resources, external reports, and ICD/patents when appropriate. Presents at industry conferences on behalf of Dow.
• Demonstrates safe work practices per need to support safety culture

 

Qualifications:

• Preferred bachelor's or master's degree in Chemistry or Materials Engineering, Material Science with construction industry related second degree (building sciences) or civil engineer / architect with construction chemical experience.
• Min. 5 years of relevant working experience with strong interpersonal skills and customer facing skills.
• Thai native speaking.
• Excellent Verbal, written and presentational skills both Thai and English.
• English communication with min. TOEIC = 700.
• Safe working understanding at customer sites/ during factory visits.
• Able to travel (~30% of time).
• Desired: Sealants and Building materials chemistry and application knowledge, familiarity with local building codes and Industry Certifications
• Desired: Project management Experience
• Understanding of construction practices and customer products/business models, experience with OEM factory (Original Equipment Manufacturer) and construction site environments is advantageous.

 

Preferred Skills:

• Technical Expertise in Materials Science - Deep understanding of silicone sealants and other building/construction-related products. Ability to assess material properties, advise on application methods, and troubleshoot issues.
• Application Development & Innovation - Experience in developing new applications and identifying unmet customer needs. Ability to convert technical opportunities into commercial success through collaboration.
• Customer-Centric Communication - Strong skills in technical presentations, training delivery, and customer engagement. Ability to deliver a consistent and excellent customer experience across touchpoints.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration - Proven ability to work with commercial, marketing, manufacturing, and R&D teams. Skilled in managing project services like substrate testing, blueprint review, and warranty preparation.
• Documentation & Knowledge Sharing - Competence in creating technical reports, manuals, and presenting at industry conferences.
